Introduction
Founded in 1987, the Department of Neurology at Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital has become one of the leading specialized centers in South China after more than 30 years of development. The department is currently recognized as a Key Clinical Specialty in Guangdong Province and a Shenzhen Key Medical Specialty Center. It is also a National Stroke Screening and Prevention Base and a National Clinical Research Center for Neurological Diseases, Shenzhen Branch. Furthermore, the department serves as a National Advanced Stroke Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. It is affiliated with the Shenzhen Brain Center under the Shenzhen “Three Renowned Programs”in collaboration with Beijing Tiantan Hospital and serves as the Shenzhen Neurological Disease Quality Control Center.
The department is committed to providing high-level medical services, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, dizziness, headaches, insomnia, and other neurological conditions. The department continually introduces advanced medical equipment and technologies to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities. Currently, it is supported by an experienced team of experts. Specialty Features
The Department of Neurology operates 8 outpatient consultation rooms, offering specialized services in stroke, cognitive and memory disorders, sleep disorders, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, dizziness, and neuroimmunology. The department includes two inpatient wards, a vascular disease ward and a comprehensive ward, with a total of 82 beds and a ward area of approximately 2,800 square meters.
The department is equipped with advanced diagnostic equipment, including transcranial magnetic stimulation, sleep recorders, transcranial Doppler (TCD), and an upright tilt test device, to facilitate the necessary diagnostic procedures for neurological diseases.
The department’s key technical strengths include neurovascular interventions, intracranial vascular stenting, carotid artery angioplasty, subclavian artery angioplasty, arterial thrombectomy, and other high-difficulty surgeries. The department handles 75,000 outpatient visits annually, admits around 4,000 inpatients per year, and performs 600 surgeries annually, with 98% of surgeries being classified as Level 3 or Level 4.
